Recent Golden Lions Club Activities
Golden Lions at the RockiesOn the afternoon and evening of June 28, 25 Golden Lions, wives and friends of the club descended on Coors Field to give away 10,000 “Dollar Dog” coupons to the fans and to watch the Rockies face the Chicago White Sox. Following the giveaway before the game, several Lions complained of great thirst, so Lion Prez J. W. (now In-the-Past Prez J. W.) arranged to give us a tour of the Sandlot, a microbrewery at Coors Field run by the Coors folks. As the photos show, the quarters below Coors Field where the beer is brewed were pretty tight, but it was cool compared to the evening air and the free samples of ‘Cuda and german pilsner brews were refreshing to say the least. Lion J. W. also won the Dollar Dog eating contest.
The Rockies won in extra innings, due, no doubt, to the fact that the Golden Lions Club was there. Thanks to all Lions in attendance, but special thanks to Fred Struck, Amy Park, and Lions wives Lisa Berquist, Jean Dorsey, Norma Fricke, Kitty Hunt, Kathy O’Connor, Roberta Park, Theresa Suglia and Beth Woodard. We couldn’t have earned the $500 contribution from the Rockies without your help.
